The Flying Frog Cafe moved down the street to the lower level of the Haywood Park Hotel replacing restaurant 23 Page. The menu features a variety of continental preparations, Indian curries with lamb or fresh seafood, a variety of German entrees, and nightly fresh seafood specials. We like the lamb vindaloo, Madras shrimp curry and traditional French style Bouillabaisse. (828) 254-9411. http://www.flyingfrogcafe.com.

Zambra one of the most popular restaurants in the region features the food of Spain and North Africa - similar to a Spanish tapas bar. Here is a sample from the current menu: all-natural pork tenderloin with port fig reduction; calamares fritos, flash-fried calamari served with lemony green garlic sauce; trucha charmoula, local fresh trout coated in Moroccan spices with salsa suave; bistec con jerez, all-natural angus hanger steak with sherry reduction and hongo al horno, marinated, roasted portabella cap stuffed with picholine olive tapenade (828) 232-1060. http://www.zambratapas.com

Tupelo Honey Cafe is well known in this area for its light new South cuisine. Here are some favorites: Fried green tomatoes served over goat cheese grits with basil; sweet potato pancakes made with three pancakes flavored with cinnamon and sweet potatoes, topped with peach butter and spiced pecans; crawley and eggs actually two eggs cooked your way with two seared crab cakes served with asparagus and topped with hollandaise sauce and grit cakes stuffed with cheddar cheese, served with green tomato salsa, red chili sauce and garnished with sour cream. No reservations and no parties larger than seven people. (828) 255-4404. http://www.tupelohoneycafe.com.
